History

Skonewood History – A Dream

In 1969, Skonewood started with a dream.  A dream that Art and Agnes Skone had to someday establish a place where Christians could come together to experience God in a natural, God Created, setting on Pickerel Lake.

They purchased the property consisting of 120 acres plus a house, barn and cabin that was later named Linga Longa (linger longer) by Agnes.  They brought with them several horses from their Double A Bar S Ranch on the Des Moines River near Ogden, IA as well as the orange Dodge pickup.
